Bill McRight got this beautiful buck while hunting this season! Rotarian Hunter Nowell invited Johnny Brister, of Cleveland, to speak to the Cleveland Rotary Club on December 15th. Brister discussed his recent accomplishment of earning the classification of Grand Master in all six handgun divisions of the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA). Brister is a GM in the divisions — open, limited, limited 10, production, revolver and most recently single stack. Brister is sponsored by Joe Tranum of Precision Delta in Ruleville and Bill and Tim Thompson of Bill’s Custom Automatics in Shelby. Lake Lamar Bruce closed to the public for repairs Jackson – Lake Lamar Bruce, near Saltillo, will be closed to the public beginning Jan. 1 for repair and renovation work. The lake was open during the draining process, but will now be closed for repairs to the dam. Habitat restoration and other improvements will also be done at Lake Lamar Bruce during this time. Jackson – The Foundation for Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks awarded three scholarships Wednesday to Mississippi students. Autumn Hanson, a Delta State Environmental Science major, Stephen Leininger, a Wildlife Science major from Mississippi State University, and Dillon Walker, a Wildlife Management major from Hinds Community College each received a $3,000 scholarship. These students were selected based on their application and resume. “These are three outstanding students who are planning on making a career in a wildlife-related field,” MWFP Foundation Executive Director Clark Gordin said. “The Foundation wants to help promising students and encourage more young people to consider a career in conservation.” For more information about the MWFP Foundation visit www.foundationMWFP.com.
